Case Study
This case study has been conducted in order to focus on what appropriate assessment is for a particular student in my classroom. The assessments created are made for the student in this case study, so it may be alternated for the benefit of your classroom.
This case study consists of three aspects.
The student portfolio introduces you to one out of the many students in my classroom. You will be able to learn about her background and identity as an ELL. There are certain struggles and challenges she faces in my classroom, and the student portfolio is made for you to receive all the information necessary to understand the purpose of the created assessments for her growth in education.
The context for learning and teaching will describe my classroom, and the context in which the case study child is being taught and assessed in. This area is created in order to help you think about your own students learning environments and the affects it has on your students' learning growth. It is important for teachers to be aware of their role in the classroom and particularly in assessment; think about what your context for learning and teaching is for your students and how this might affect their learning.
The context for assessments will focus more on the educational background of the case study child. It will reveal to you her WIDA scores as well as her strengths and weaknesses. Assessments have been made based on this information, so please read this area in order to receive a better understanding of the purpose behind each assessment.
